An Omega Constellation previously owned by Elvis Presley was sold for $52,500 at the recent auction by Antiquorum, setting a world record. The top value amongst the watches at the auction was for a Patek Philippe which sold at $ 542,500.

A lot has been written about high end watches being purchased as the buyer feels that the value of these watches would go up in time. As seen during the last financial meltdown, luxuries such as expensive watches are among the first things to be left out of the investment portfolios. If you look at the historic data it becomes clear that the majority of watches including even some of the rare pieces have not increased in value. There are exceptions to every rule and in the case of watches the exceptions are the two brands Patek Philippe and Rolex. Buying these two brands today means that you won't lose too much or any money when you sell them in the future. A close look at auctions will reveal that most of the high priced watches are those which have been re-circulating over the years.

If you still wish to invest in watches it would make sense to research about both current and vintage watches and their demand. There are a lot of websites that offer tips and guides to buying watches.

The Nike+ fitness tracking system for shoes, the largest connected fitness network, is finally going to be an in-built feature. Nike has announced that the fitness tracking sensors will be embedded into the insoles of the athletic shoes like Hyperdunk+ basketball shoe and the LunarTR1+ trainer for men.

The sensors on the shoes are enhanced in such a way that the Hyperdunk+ can also measure the wearer's elevation on a dunk. These sensors can wirelessly transmit the workout data to certain Apple iOS devices like the iPhone, iTouch and the new iPod Nano. While the iPhone 4S and the new iPod Nano have the receiver built in, the older devices need an adapter to receive the data. This data can also be transmitted to a PC.

With the introduction of these new shoes, Nike has also kick started a campaign with the title "Game On, World". The fitness challenge will allow wearers to challenge their friends to fitness goals. Though this may not be a new concept, Nike has a firm grip on this small but emerging market for fitness shoes. Approximately $2.7 trillion was spent by the U.S. on healthcare in 2011, and Nike has the marketing skills required to make this campaign larger. While Google Health might seem to be a competitor, Nike+ fitness shoes have made their presence felt since 2006. The mobile health world is already applauding the campaign and iPhone ECG creator Dr. Dave Albert has tweeted that the Nike+ technology for shoes could also be used for monitoring people with chronic diseases.
